The next card is filling now

It mails once the categories are spoken for, and we confirm the mail date and your artwork date with you before anything prints. Categories are taken in the order they sell, and once one is gone it's gone for that issue.

Only one of you

One plumber, one dentist, one roofer per card. Your closest competitor cannot buy the slot next to yours, because there is no slot next to yours.

We design the ad

Send a logo, an offer and a photo. We lay it out, you approve a proof, and nothing prints until you have seen it.

Whole routes, not a list

USPS Every Door Direct Mail buys carrier routes — every deliverable address on the routes in the drop, not names rented from a database.

A listing that outlives the card

Your ad gets a page in the directory with a tracked link. The card sits on a fridge for a month; the listing keeps working.

What's left

2 of 16 blocks are still open on the October 2026 card, across 48 free categories.

See the card drawn to scale with every sold block filled in, and what each open one costs. It updates from our own books — when a business pays, their category closes.

What it costs

$349

per card, all in — a business-card ad, and the entry price

Five sizes. Everything below is included at every one of them; the only thing that changes is how much of the card is yours — up to the whole back of it.

  • Ad design and layout, with a proof to approve
  • Printing on a 9×12 card, both sides in full colour
  • Postage and the USPS paperwork
  • A directory listing with a tracked link
  • Your offer on the deals page for as long as it runs

There is no setup fee, no contract and no minimum number of mailings.

The full side is the back of the card only, one per issue. The front carries the postal indicia and address block the Postal Service requires, so it is never for sale. A sold back keeps a slim Spotlight credit along its bottom edge.

Drawn to scale — each block is the share of the card that size actually takes.
SizePrice
Business cardHalf a slot. The entry price, and the size most first-timers buy.2.84 × 1.75 in · 1/16 page$349
Full slotThe standard ad. Room for a photo, an offer and a coupon.2.84 × 3.58 in · 1/8 page$599
DoubleTwo slots side by side — the widest ad that still sits in the grid.5.77 × 3.58 in · 1/4 page$1,099
Full rowA whole row, edge to edge. One per side, and the anchor position.11.63 × 3.58 in · 1/2 page$1,999
Full sideThe whole back of the card, yours alone. Back side only — the front carries the postal indicia USPS requires.11.63 × 8.20 in · One full side$3,999

One business per category applies at every size — a business-card ad holds the category just as firmly as a full row does. Sizes are subject to what is still unsold on the card when you claim it, and the measurements above are close but not the artwork spec: you get exact dimensions with your proof, and we lay the ad out either way.

The full side is the back of the card only, one per issue. The front carries the postal indicia and the address block the Postal Service requires, so it is never for sale — and a sold back still carries a slim Spotlight credit line along its bottom edge.

Claim a category

Tell us which category is yours.

We'll come back with whether it's free on the October 2026 card, what it costs and what we need from you. It takes about a minute to send.

  1. 1

    We check the category

One business per category per card, so the first thing we do is confirm yours is actually free on the next issue.

  2. 2

You get a price and a proof

The price is the one on this page. Send a logo, an offer and a photo; we lay the ad out and you approve it before anything prints.

  3. 3

Nothing prints until you say so

No setup fee, no contract, no minimum number of mailings. If you change your mind before your ad goes to the printer, that is the end of it.

Nothing here commits you to anything — it starts the conversation and holds your category while we have it.

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

What does it cost?

Ads start at $349 for a business-card size. A full slot is $599, a double is $1,099 and a full row is $1,999. That is the whole price at every size — design, printing and postage are included, and there is no setup fee. A full side — the whole back of the card, one advertiser — is $3,999. One business per category applies at every size.

What does "one business per category" mean?

Exactly one plumber, one dentist, one roofer per card. When a category is taken it is gone for that issue, so you are never sitting next to your closest competitor. The categories still open are listed above.

Who actually receives it?

Every deliverable address in the drop — houses, not a mailing list. Card 1 covers Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills and Olmos Park, roughly 5,000 homes across 78209 and 78212. Route counts are confirmed with USPS before each print run.

Do I have to design an ad?

No. Send your logo, your offer and a photo or two and we lay the ad out for you. You approve a proof before anything prints. If you would rather supply finished artwork, that is fine too.

How do I know if it worked?

Three ways, and you get all of them. Your ad carries a coupon customers mention when they call. You get a listing page on this site with a tracked link, so visits are counted. And the reader giveaway asks entrants which businesses on the card they would use — which hands you a number without you paying for tracking.

When is the deadline?

The card mails once its categories are spoken for, so there is no date on a wall — we set the mail date and tell you when we need your artwork, usually about two weeks ahead, once the card is full. The categories still open are at the top of this page.

Do I have to commit to a year?

No. You can buy a single card. Most businesses see better results across three or more mailings, because the same household sees you repeatedly — but that is your call, not a contract.

Pick a category before somebody else does.

Once a category is taken it's gone for that issue. Send the form and you'll know within a business day whether yours is still free.
